SELLING VEGETABLES AT THE HAY MARKET
The Gugumuck family has farmed their land for many years. Johann Gugumuck (born 1875) raised field vegetables and had a large stall of livestock. His wife and five children — Johann, Franz, Hermine, Elisabeth, and Karl – supported him. Twice a week, the farming family drove their horse-drawn carriage to the Heumarkt (Hay Market), now part of the first Vienna district, directly adjacent to the Old Town, to sell their homegrown vegetables.
