THE PIONEERING SPIRIT OF THE FAMILY
Johann pursued less invasive agricultural methods from early on, refusing to spray chemicals. He raised yellow peonies, yellow lilacs, fig trees, and successfully grafted five different types of apple to one tree. His prize-winning parsley roots placed several times at the International Garden Show, 1962 with silver and 1974 with bronze. He also became quite renowned for his Sieglinde potatoes. After his death, his wife Leopoldine continued farming, albeit on a smaller scale.
